DJW TECHNOLOGY teamed with SENTECH Inc. for a Multiple Award Task Order Contract from the Office of Naval Research. One of the first activities with SENTECH for ONR is an evaluation of world wide production of low sulfur military jet fuels, JP-8 and JP-5.

DJW TECHNOLOGY’s President, Douglas Wheeler, is an active member of the Community of Interest on Hydrogen Energy Technologies representing the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The Community of Interest was formed by the U. S. Governments Interagency Working Group on Manufacturing R&D to address the President’s Hydrogen Fuel Initiative to develop technology for commercially viable hydrogen-powered fuel cells to power cars, trucks, homes and businesses with no pollution or greenhouse gases.

DJW TECHNOLOGY, LLC recently completed an Office of Naval Research supported development project on a Plasma Catalytic Reformer fuel processing system for hydrogen production from diesel and JP-8 / JP-5 fuels. The program evaluated sulfur removal technology developed by The Ohio State University. The Office of Naval Research support was through the University of Hawaii.

DJW TECHNOLOGY provides evaluation and analysis services on fuel cell systems and hydrogen technology to the U.S. Department of Energy via the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The status of U.S. manufacturing of hydrogen systems was assessed. These efforts include evaluation of the manufacturing status of PEM fuel cells, the manufacturing status for hydrogen production technology, and hydrogen storage manufacturing capability. The program effort includes contributing to the development of a manufacturing R&D plan for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The next phase of this effort is the development of Manufacturing Readiness Levels to establish a common base for industry to assess and report their fuel cell and hydrogen technology manufacturing progress.

DJW TECHNOLOGY supports the University of Hawaii in their Office of Naval Research program on the testing and development of fuel cell power plants. The Office of Naval Research program has established world class, full size fuel cell testing capability at the Hawaii Fuel Cell Test Facility that is part of the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute of the University of Hawaii. The effects of hydrogen impurities on the performance of PEM fuel cells are being evaluated at the Hawaii Fuel Cell Test Facility. The company participates in the program planning and the analyses of test results. Assistance was provided to the University of Hawaii in coordinating the impurity testing with major industry participants, including UTC Fuel Cells, General Motors, Ballard Power Systems, and DaimlerChrysler.

DJW TECHNOLOGY supports the Naval Research Laboratory in the development of fuel cell powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

DJW TECHNOLOGY supported the University of Hawaii’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) funded program Subsea Power Generation Systems Utilizing Seafloor Methane. The program identified fuel cell concepts consistent with the DARPA’s goals.
